Scott Hanft was born in Sonora California. At the age of 10 Scott received his first camera. This was the beginning of a lifelong interest in the visual arts. In 1988 he earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from the California institute of the arts. The school, founded by Walt Disney, is set up in every way for the artist to achieve a working method to create art. After graduating, Hanft moved to Kauai, where the pristine ocean and scenic island serves as a constant source of inspiration. Over time Scott has built an all encompassing stock of Kauai images and has become an award winning photographer. Scott has a true Kauai product. Scott has won the Hawaii magazine photo contest 2 times in Feb. 2000 and Jan. 2006. He won honorable mention in Islands Magazine in 2010. Custom prints and other work is available at the Noka Fair in Kapaa.
